One last meeting with Adrian and his team for dinner. It’s like a Pan-Asian summit here because we have people from the US,Taiwan,Malaysia,Singapore, and of course Thailand. Very interesting dinner. Had good conversation with Tang. Hopefully,we can expand our content business through North American market through Tang. Met Yoshi at Big Echo karaoke to finish off the night.
Adrian and his team came and met with Sugai-san and the Soft Depot Team. Had a very good meeting. I will be in charge of this project. It looks like we could do something really good here. Wow. The Japanese Class is moving very quickly. I must keep up...Ganbatte!!! Later on,went and met with Harish at Kao Saan because he needs a partner for his expedition. Joined Mark and three girls (I couldn’t remember their names) at The Club. After Kao Saan,we went to Saxophone where we met up with Adrian and two girls (I also couldn\\\'t remember their names).
I finished the paper around 7am. Man was I tired since I didn\'t get much sleep. Went to work looking like a zombie.
The night before,Boon said something which makes a whole lot of sense. That is,when a Thai person ask for your help, they expect you to take full ownership of the problem. This is so very true. Even Jessica, who’s supposed to be more Westernized, also has the same philosophy when it comes to concept about “help”. I brought this up because today, she asked me to help her with her paper. Her definition of “help”is very Thai, which means, she expects me to do most of the work. I did not want to but I also did not want her to fail her class. So,I did it but not before giving her an earful (via email). Adrian and Roy arrived in Bangkok near midnight. I entertained them a bit before making my way back home to finish the paper for Jessica
Started cleaning up my room a bit and catch up on some sleep. Boon and Momoko joined me at Kao Saan Road (the street famous among backpackers and Japanese travelers). We met up with Roni to eat at Reku-san Ramen. It’s supposed to be really good but I personally think it sucks. Afterward dinner,we got some Swedish massage in Kao Saan. We said our goodbye to Roni and headed to Absolut near RCA. I ran into Ae,Ann Ann,and Yok at Absolut. Today’s DJ is not as good but we enjoyed ourselves anyway. Ann Ann enjoyed herself so much she surprised me by grabbing me and kissed me on the cheek. Yok just broke up with her boyfriend so she was getting kinda crazy on me toward the end of the night. Luckily,I passed her off to Boon before things get out of hand. Fun and strange night to be sure.
Had a very productive meeting with AIS. Looks like we can actually come to a deal. I’m pretty happy with this development. Met up with Yoshi for dinner. Momoko,Wat,and Richard joined us later for a bowling session at MBK. Afterward,we went to Delta Pacific Hotel for some drinks and singing.
Just a nice slow day. Good to catch up on things. I skipped Japanese class today though. Went and checked out Aam’s concert at The Piano. Kom joined Boon and I there and he seemed to have tremendous blast.
Got last minute (a recurring for this week it seems...last minute stuff) meeting request from K. Chatchalerm, the secretary to Taan Korn,Thailand’s Deputy MP. He would like me to meet with the secretary to Dr. Mahatma, yes, the current Malaysian MP. I mean, how can I deny such request? So,I went. It was a great meeting and hopefully we’ll be able to work together in the near future. Got some nice facial from Hanako afterward. I also worked out for the first time in six weeks. I’m amazed that I was still able to run over 1.5 km. A bit sore but good.
Stayed up till seven in the morning to finish the Hutchinson proposal. Went home to nap for couple hours. The ac repairman came over to fix my aircondition. Met with Taniya-san,Raku Raku Entertainment’s main investor,at the Emporium Sweet. Agreed to move forward with our plan to jointly develop I-mode site with Gigaflop. Had to skip my Japanese class today so I can finish up Jessica’s Human Communication paper.
Got last minute meeting request this morning. Looks like we are going after the Hutchinson account with the Datamat team. At first,I was really confused after reading the RFP. Requested emergency meeting with Hutchinson. After the meeting,I realized that the scope of the project is very easy. We agreed to go forward and do it with Datamat team.
After I got back from Absolut last night,I had to stay up to finish a report for Jessica. It took me much longer than I thought and I stayed up until 8 in the morning! I only slept for about three hours when my friend Wat called me to go to Chatachak Weekend Market with him. I was so tired but he begged me so I had to drag myself out of bed. Met nice Malaysian people while at Sculpture buying nice bed and pillow sheet. After Chatuchak,I headed home and tried to get some sleep. Less than an hour later,Nakano-san called me and asked to meet with me. Man,I was about the pass out at that point but once again,I went and met Nakano-san,K. Vichai, and Boon. I got myself some Thai traditional message while meeting with them. Afterward,we headed to the Piano bar to relax for couple hours.
Busy busy day today. It’s been a while since I shopped for clothes. I went to Siam Square and ended up buying a shirt and a pant from one of my favorite clothing store,WMA. I also went and bought“The Lover” DVD. Later, I found out from my friend Tanawat that he was able to get me tickets for Grand Ex reunion concert. It was basically the hottest ticket in town and completely sold out. Grand Ex is the band that brought pop sound to Thai music scene over thirty years ago. They’re very influential to many of today\\\'s musician and composer. They broke up about twenty years ago. I guess the best comparison is that they are like Southern All Stars of Thailand. Tanawat is the co-GM of Channel V Thailand so he was able to squeeze to tickets for me. That was really cool. After the concert,we met up with Yukiko and Yoshi at Londoner’s Brew Pub. They wanted to check out RCA so we went there. RCA is strip of discotechque where all the Thai teenagers go clubbing. However, I thought the DJs there sucked really bad. So,we moved to Absolut which is on the more secluded section of RCA. I chose Absolute because I know the DJ there and I know they play good music. My friends agreed. So we a blast just dancing the nite away. It’s been a while since I went off on the dance floor baby!
Met up with May during late noon. Went to the park with her to check out her new job that she’s doing with TAT (Tourism Authority of Thailand). Pretty interesting. Later that evening,I went and checked out Bond’s concert with Pim’s mother. Had dinner at Debut Cafe. This is the first time I’ve been back here since I first met Jessica. I actually fell asleep at one point during the concert! I guess it was the combination of fatigue and the fact that I’d seen them before. I tend to fall asleep when I listen to classical.
First day of my second level Japanese class. It’s pretty cool because I’m actually ahead of most of my classmates thanks to my recent cramming I did to prepare for the test. Went and picked up my custom tailored tweed jacket and pant.
Met with Hutchinson this morning. Looks like we may be able to do something with them. Afterward, headed over to Raku Raku for my consulting gig. Called and catch up with May a little bit since I havent really talked to her since before I left for the United States. I’ll be meeting with her for lunch this coming Friday. May used to be one of the supermodels here in Thailand. Currently, she’s an actress and she’s actually quite good as compared to her peers. She’s starred in Nonzee’s “Jan Dara”and Oxide Pang’s“Rain”. I believe my friend’s company,Klockworx Japan recently released“Rain”in Japan (around mid Feb I think). She plays the hooker in“Rain”in case you are wondering. Later that nite,I hung out with Momoko in her room just chatting up.
Yessss,I passed my Japanese test!!! I had more pressure on me than I originally thought. I guess because our class size is small, everyone will know if I pass or fail. Now,it’s on to next class. By the time I get to third class,I should be able to start speaking a bit I think. Boon came to meet me after my test. We headed to the Piano where I’m on to my second day of partying. Today,I keep it a bit more lowkey though.
Met my Japanese teacher for an extra lesson to prepare for test this coming Tuesday. I missed so many class but fortunately,I was able to catch up fairly quickly. Unfortunately, the test is written so I have to try to memorize all my hiragana.
My mom is returning to the United States tomorrow. I went and see her and Chatuchak Market to say my goodbye. Man,I do hate goodbye. While meeting up with my mom,Pim got me a concet ticket to go see Bond with her mother. Just in case you don’t know,Bond is the band with four girls, each playing different classical instruments. By far,I think Gay Yee (the half Chinese half British) ,the cello player is the sexiest. Actually,I do think cello as a very sexy instrument...ah,I digress. Later that evening, I met up with Yoshi, the Japanese girl I met couple days ago for dinner. After dinner,we headed over to Big Echo to karaoke.
Brought my company’s profile to Terry Rogers and ended up in a long lengthy meeting. After my meeting with Terry,I got dropped off at Major Cineplex Ratchayothin where I met up with Tong,Nok,and Boon at the bowling alley. Also,Pim called me up to see if I can go with her to Ministry of Sound. So, after the bowling,I took Boon with me to MOS (Ministry of Sound) because Tong had to work early the next day. An Eastern European guy by the name of DoDo brought us through the VIP entrance. Seems like DoDo is trying to date Pim so she decided to bring me with her just in case. Interesting how small Bangkok can be. Just earlier,Terry was telling me about a person he met by the name of DoDo. From Terry’s description, this is the very same DoDo that Terry spoke about earlier! DoDo is like a character off one of Quentin Tarantino’s movies...unreal!
Met up with Tum,a friend o f mine who owes a travel agency here in Bangkok. Had lunch with Tum and paid for the airfare I owed his company for my trip to New Zealand. Later, had a meeting with Khun Nadda, the Managing Director for Univeral Music thailand. He’s like an older brother to me. He really took me under his wings and helped me out a lot since I moved back to Thailand. We havent seen each eother for almost two months so we just chat and catch up on things. Of course,he also makes it a point ot tease me about Jessica...nice. I know exactly who I owe this to >_<
We finished our George Michael Microsite project. It took us just 3 working days. So,it’s extremely fast by any standard. You can check it out at http://www.popidols.net/ . Click on the George Michael picture on the main page to see the site. We got great comment from everyone that sees it. I heard that George Michael himself will be looking at the site...how cool is that?
Just work and meeting today. Fairly boring but I’m pretty tired so.... Went and meet with Bob of WOC modeling agency. Talked about possibility of partnering with Elite Asia. Met Yoshi,a Japanese woman studying Thai language while at WOC.
Tong and Aum came by the office to visit. Went and checked out the premiere of Black Hawk Down together. The movie was really intense. I heard that it’s one of the most realistic war drama since Saving Private Ryan and I tend to agree after watching it. I had to skip my Japanese class to attend the premiere though...man,I’m a dilinquent student :-P Afterward, went to Brew Pavillion to check out my friend in concert.
Met up with Roni,Guy’s friend from Israel. Guy gave her my high school picture as reference. I mean,a high school picture!!! Wow,I don’t look anything like that anymore...a bit more handsome I like to think...ha ha ha =) Brought Roni to Kao Saan to find her a guesthouse. Once I got there,I was really surprised by the fact that it’s super busy there. I guess it’s travel season? Later on that nite, went back to Kao Saan to meet up with Roni. Hangout with her in the area.
It’s Joob’s wedding today. I bought a gift from Chatuchak Weekend Market for her. Head out to the wedding with Toon. The ceremony went surprisignly quick. Got a call from Guy,my best friend since high school. Guy’s currently living in Israel. He told me that his girlfriend is coming to Thailand tomorrow and he wants me to help take care of her. We took the opportunity to catch up since it’s been a while since we see each other (almost two years now). He’s going to attend my brother’s wedding so I very much look forward to seeing him again this coming June.
Met up with Boon at Chatuchak Weekend Market to help him look for some wholesaler of incense. Also finalizing on gift items for my brother’s bridesmaid and groomsmen. Boon bought a nice container for me from Sculpture. Went home to rest a bit. Go to Photocity to pick up my films. They did a good job developing it this time around. Man,photography as hobby can get very expense. Met up with Boon again to go bowling at Major Ratchayothin. I sux. Boon’s pretty good. Many gay people at this place...keep checking us out. Boon finished off the whole jug of beer and felt like drinking some more. So,we headed off to Our Kitchen to satisfy his alcoholic mood.
Boys nite out. Hang out with Khun Nakano,Khun Vichai, and Boon. Note: The word“khun”is similar to“sama or san”in Japanese. It’s an honorific use in front of a person’s name. Thais sometimes use K. as an abbreviation for khun in their writing. Met up with some interesting friend of K. Vichai,Ae. K. Nakano and K. Vichai had to leave at midnite. Boon and I continue our adventure at Spice Club where we karaoke for about two hours.
